Ohio 220 Group
Providing Emergency Communications to NC Ohio!
The Ohio 220 Group has been established to provide additional emergency communications support for Emcomm operations in North Central Ohio. Whether is be a large scale natural disaster, or a man made one, or even a training excersise, the system is there to provide emergency communications. Whether it be to contact your neighboring county to ask for a weather update, or contact a county half way across the state for assistance and supplies, the network is the for your use.
The Ohio 220 Group is supported in part by the gracious repeater owners, who have allowed their 220 repeater to be linked into the network. While it is still in it's development stage, our hopes is to have a wide-area linked system that will cover from Toledo to Youngstown, and North of I-70. This will require the support of many people, including repeater owners, local amateurs, local business, and the general public, whom we serve.
Why 220 you may ask? The 222-225MHz band is often forgotten about, and as such is rather quiet. There is no commercial paging transmitters on our door steps to couse us problems. The 220 band is not covered by many makes and models of scanners, making it a somewhat more "secure" means of communicating. And the 220 band has features of both VHF and UHF frequencies. It has the distance features of 144MHz, and the building penatration features of 440MHz. Kind of the best of both worlds.
Current Network Status and Updates
Currently, the Ohio 220 Group has available 3 repeaters to them, with more planned to be linked into the network as time allows. A 4th is being constructed, and a 5th is in the planning stage. These repeaters are placed to provide the best coverage of the state, allowing for some overlap between sites. These sites are Ashland, Arcadia, Kent, and Mt. Gilead Ohio. Additional sites and systems will be linked in once the initial 4 are completed.mIf you are interested in linking your 220 repeater into the network, or for more information, feel free to email us at OH220Group@gmail.com
A special thank you to these individuals for their support of the Ohio 220 Group:
